What are the setup fees and monthly costs involved?

HostBuilder™ does not charge on a ‘per site’ basis, nor do we charge a set up fee for any of your domains.  You simply pick a plan and that is your monthly rate.  Best of all, our packages grow with you,  and there is never a fee to upgrade to a higher level of service.

 
Is there a trial period or money-back guarantee?
HostBuilder™ offers a full 15-day money back guarantee. No questions asked. If you are not happy for any reason, cancel your HostBuilder™ service within 15 days of signup and your full setup fee and monthly costs will be refunded. HostBuilder™ does not offer a 15-day money back guarantee on services ordered for your clients after your 15-day guarantee period. The only exception to a refund, is if you violate HostBuilder™ Terms of Service(TOS). Violations of the TOS usually are due to spamming, hacking, and illegal content.


How fast are accounts set up?
HostBuilder™ strives for a setup time of no more than 6 hours per order. If an order is placed during normal business day hours, orders may be processed in only a few minutes. If an order is placed in the middle of a night, when the least amount of staff is on-site, orders may take slightly longer to process.


Will my clients find out about HostBuilder™
HostBuilder™ attempts to hide all mention and tracing of HostBuilder™ for its resellers. HostBuilder™ offers anonymous nameservers, web browser control panels,  server names, at no additional charge. HostBuilder™ uses the name "Network Operations Center, Inc.", ZephyrDNS’ and  "hostnoc.net" for all of its anonymous needs. Branded support, in your conpany's name, is also available as an add-on to the reseller program. Full details are available by contacting the Sales Department via the Online ‘Live Support’.


How am I billed?
HostBuilder™ invoices you via email. You can login to our custom billing software as well, at any time. Hard copy invoices can be printed online, as well as past statements and charges to your account. You will receive an invoice for each service/account order every month on the same day the service was ordered (if it is a monthly sevice). Special arrangements can be made for custom billing requirements. HostBuilder™ accepts American Express, Diners Club, Discover, JCB, MasterCard, Visa. Certain restrictions may apply depending on the country where the card is issued. 2Checkout.com is an authorized retailer for goods and services provided by HostBuilder.com.


How do I bill my clients?
HostBuilder™ does not currently get involved with your billing practices for your clients. For this reason you are free to charge any price that you wish for the services you provide, and just pay HostBuilder™ your low reseller costs for such. HostBuilder™ does offer Merchant Accounts via our partners, so that you can sign up to accept credit cards for your business.


How do I place my orders?
All orders for HostBuilder.com are placed through 2CheckOut.com - 2CheckOut.com Inc. (Ohio, USA) is an authorized retailer for goods and services provided by HostBuilder.com.


Do you provide technical support to my clients?
The reseller is required to provide technical support directly to their clients. If a reseller does not know the answer to a question, they may ask HostBuilder™, and in turn relay the answer to their client. HostBuilder™ does offer direct support services an add-on feature. Full details are available by contacting the Sales Department via our online ‘Live Support’.


Are there any hidden costs?
No. All costs are stated plainly on our website. We do not hide fees in fineprint, or in our terms of service pages. The only costs that are commonly found to occur beyond your expected flat monthly rates per service, are those due to increased disk space or bandwidth usage. Pricing for such is plainly stated on our website. HostBuilder™ very often will allow you to upgrade your packages to the next size up, should you see an increase in disk space levels or bandwidth usage for the current month, and not want to pay for such additional usage. Disk space usage and availability, as well as estimated bandwidth usage, is available to you in the majority of the control panel versions included with the hosting packages.


What products & services can I resell?
HostBuilder™ resellers currently can offer Red Hat™ Linux  virtual hosting and dedicated servers.


What happens if I decide to leave HostBuilder™
You are free to leave at anytime. Your HostBuilder™ services are on a month-to-month basis, without any required contract. The clients you have signed up with as a HostBuilder™ reseller, are your clients. You are free to take them with you if for any reason you decide to leave HostBuilder™.


Is there a discount if I pre-pay for a number of months in advance?
HostBuilder™ does not currently offer a discount to resellers for advance payments on their account.


Will my clients have their own IP number or is it shared?
This depends on the type of hosting packages you order. Some HostBuilder™ hosting packages come with a dedicated IP address. The smaller packages, that are budget minded, and use shared IPs. HostBuilder™ dedicated servers have the ability to utilize IP based, or IPless, virtual hosting configurations.


What type of support do you offer? Average Response Time?
HostBuilder™ offers support to our resellers 24/7/365, email, AOL IM, ICQ IM, MSN IM, Yahoo IM. Response times of just a few minutes are quite common during normal business hours. The HostBuilder™ administration carefully monitors that the HostBuilder™ support staff maintains a fast response time, with courteous and helpful service.


What are the hardware specs of the servers?
Every server at HostBuilder™ has different specifications. Whenever a server reaches what we feel to be the limit, another server is built. HostBuilder™ is constantly upgrading the server hardware on our network. If more drive space, memory, or faster processors are needed, they are added in at that time. The average shared server is P-IV processor system, with 512-1024MB RAM, and 120G IDE hard drive(s). All HostBuilder™ servers run spare hard drives for backup requirements.


How many sites are currently running on per server?
HostBuilder™ does not have a set quantity of domains running on each machine. We find that ten domains can utilize more resources than 200 others. HostBuilder™ monitors each server's performance levels and attempts to maintain a low server load average and high cpu availability. As needed, HostBuilder™ will upgrade the hardware, to increase server performance. Individual domains that become to much for the server to handle, and utilize too much server resources, are moved to servers set up specifically for such resource intensive accounts.


Do you host adult sites?
HostBuilder™ does not host adult sites on the same servers as normal hosting sites. HostBuilder™ has a separate division for such material. Adult material servers are subject to a monthly licensing fee of $ 75 per month plus the service plan.


May I view your Terms Of Service?

How long have you been in business?
The company has been in business since October 2000.


Do you provide content for the resellers' websites?
All HostBuilder™ resellers are free to copy, and modify for their needs, any text-only material from the HostBuilder™ website. This will help resellers with their sales efforts, and assist them in designing a complete and professional sales site. We ask that if for any reason you decide to stop reselling HostBuilder™ services, that you remove such material based on copyrighted HostBuilder™ design from your sales tools and website.


Do you support International domain names and clients?
HostBuilder™ can host all international domains on its servers. HostBuilder™ can accept foreign clientele, just please be advised that all correspondence must be conducted in English. The reseller, or the end-user, is responsible for handling the registration process of foreign domain name(s). This must be pointed to nameservers on the HostBuilder™ network as assigned, or you can use other nameservers and route the domain name to the IP address you are assigned. HostBuilder™ cannot handle the foreign domain registration process for you, due to the fact that we do not speak all of the potential foreign languages that may be involved. HostBuilder™ will assist you however, with any technical information need to accomplish this.


What if one of my clients break your "acceptable usage policy" rules?
Regardless of whether a client is a retail account, or a reseller client, all violations of our TOS are treated the same. Users' sites may be suspended for violations of policy, or if extreme, or second time offenders, sites may be cancelled. Each occurrence is dealt with on a case by case basis, and we try to work things out with every client. Notifications will be sent to the reseller, if HostBuilder™ takes any action on one of their resold accounts.


What is to prevent my clients from moving directly to you?
HostBuilder™ DOES NOT accept clientele of our resellers as direct, retail HostBuilder™ customers. Your clients belong to you, and HostBuilder™ will never attempt to gain their direct business. The only exception to this policy is if the reseller is exiting the hosting business, and wants us to take over the service for his clients. The HostBuilder™ reseller program is an integral part of the family of services offered at HostBuilder™, and we intend to keep our resellers healthy and growing.


Can I customize the control panel?
HostBuilder™ provides three options for skins on the control panel. HostBuilder ™ offers a branded control panel, using HostBuilder™ logos, that our retail clients utilize. Also available is an anonymous version of the same control panel style, without HostBuilder™ mention or logos. Either option is available for usage at no charge to HostBuilder™ resellers. HostBuilder™ also offers a custom branded control panel option, as an add-on to our reseller and dedicated server provider clients. This is a paid add-on to the service. You can fully customize the html and graphics, as well as add your own links and cgi scripts. Full details are available on the Reseller Add-On Services page. What if I want to upgrade to a dedicated server in the future?
Not a problem. HostBuilder™ will assist you in setting up the sites on your dedicated server, and help you transfer all the users' files over as well. It can be a very simple procedure, with minimal downtime. HostBuilder™ will leave the shared server accounts active while the transfer is occurring, until dns properly clears up, and all clients are satisfied that their sites are functioning perfectly on the new dedicated server.
